1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of PetMap (the “Service”), including the website at petmap.ng, the business listings on it, and the tools we provide to pet owners and to businesses. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of this agreement. If you run a business listed here, the Business Privacy Notice covers where listings come from and how to claim, correct or remove one.

2. What the Service is

PetMap is a directory of pet-related businesses and places in Nigeria, covering veterinary care, grooming, training, boarding, retail and related services, searchable by category, location and pet type. We also provide tools that let a business manage its own listing. Some of those tools are free and some are paid.

3. Using the Service

You may browse and search the directory freely. You agree not to scrape or bulk-extract the directory, to resell or redistribute its contents, to interfere with its operation, to attempt unauthorised access to any part of it, or to use it for any unlawful purpose. We grant you no licence to reuse the compiled directory as a dataset.

4. How listings appear

Entries in the directory come from three sources: information submitted by a business or its representative, information gathered by our field agents, and business information already published publicly by the business itself.

A listing compiled from public sources records business information: trading name, category of service, area of operation, and contact routes the business already publishes. A listing is not a statement that the business has any relationship with PetMap, and we do not claim any. Section 5 sets out what the business can require us to do.

5. If you own a listed business

You have three options, and you do not need an account to use the last two.

Claim it. Verify that you represent the business and take control of the entry, after which you decide what it says.

Correct it. Tell us what is wrong through the contact widget on any page, choosing “Listing Correction”, or through the reporting control on the listing itself.

Remove it. Ask us through the contact widget on any page, choosing “Remove My Listing”, or by writing to privacy@petmap.ng. You do not have to give a reason. We ask only for enough information to confirm you are connected to the business, so that a listing cannot be removed by someone unconnected to it. We act on confirmed requests within 30 days and usually much sooner.

6. Submitting a listing

If you submit a business, you confirm that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to submit it on that business's behalf. We review submissions before they appear. We may edit, decline, suspend or remove any listing, for example where information cannot be verified, where it is misleading, or where it breaches these Terms.

Listings may be offered at different tiers carrying different features, placement or fees. The tiers and any prices are those shown on the List your business page when you apply, and may change as the Service develops.

7. Reviews and content you submit

Reviews must describe your own experience and must be honest. Do not post content that is false, defamatory, abusive, or that infringes anyone's rights, and do not post a review of a business you own or compete with. We may remove content that breaches this section.

By submitting content such as a listing, a photograph or a review, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it on the Service, and you confirm that you hold the rights needed to grant it.

8. No endorsement of listed businesses

PetMap is a discovery platform. We do not provide the services listed on it. We carry out checks on businesses that register with us directly, but a listing, including one carrying a verification or feature badge, is not a guarantee of the quality, safety, licensing or legality of that business.

Make your own checks before engaging a business you find here, such as asking to see a licence or proof of insurance. Any dealings you have with a listed business are between you and that business.

9. Advertising and paid features

The Service carries advertising and offers paid plans to businesses. Paid placement is identified as such where it appears. Paying for a plan does not change how we handle a removal request under section 5, and it does not buy influence over reviews or over another business's listing.

10. Intellectual property

The PetMap name, logo, design, software and the compiled directory belong to us or our licensors, excluding content submitted by businesses and third-party data such as map tiles. None of it may be copied, reused or redistributed without our written permission.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account, or withdraw access to the Service, where these Terms are breached or where we are required to do so by law. You may close your account at any time by writing to us.

12. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that listings are complete, current or free from error. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PetMap is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your use of the Service or from your dealings with a business found through it. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service develops. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and where a change materially affects your rights we will say so on the site. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes arising from them are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State.
